Holy Hour for Vocations
In place of our usual Monday night Holy Hour and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, please plan to come instead to the Cathedral downtown (259 E Onondaga Street) at 5:30pm for a Holy Hour with Bishop Lucia, as we join him and our diocese in prayer for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life in our diocese!
You may recall, Fr. Brendan received a new role in ministry that began in January where, alongside Fr. Dennis Walker, is responsible for the work of promoting Vocations and especially accompanying young men who are discerning a call to the priesthood. It is essential for all parishes in our diocese to develop a local culture that supports our young people knowing that God has a plan and calls us all and to be ready to support them however we can. It is a particular blessing within a parish to have young people respond to vocations that serve the life of the church in the unique way as a priest or consecrated religious. The Lord is always calling, and it is easier for our young people to respond when we help them to know they are loved and not alone in their discernment.
Let’s join in this important effort in prayer and continue to foster this environment within St. Anthony’s especially. We have been blessed to have many of our seminarians come to St. Anthony’s to visit us over the past few years. This is one special way we can return their generosity by coming together in prayer for a greater outpouring of religious vocations in our parish and in our diocese. SEE YOU THERE~!
